The five piece Brighton band have been flirting heavily with London over the last six months which lands on good ears here. Having played their first live show back in early August last year selling out Brighton venue ‘The Prince Albert’ the band have played numerous amounts of shows in London supporting the likes of fellow Brighton based band ‘Demob Happy’, ‘Kit Trigg’, ‘Neon Waltz’, ‘Echo Tape’ and ‘Man & The Echo’.
Playing venues all over London with their first EP aptly named ‘EP1’ under their belts and new songs for good measure I left the gig with the feeling we’ll be hearing a lot more of Bad Family this year.
Having rip roared through ‘It Ain’t Me’ and ‘On Your Wall’ it then fell to arguably their most notable track and opener from ‘EP1’ ‘Real Fast Car’ to really up the anti. I’ve put them in the same sentence as ‘Band of Horses’ and ‘The National’ and I stand by this with a British romance about them to give them that unique sound. Followed by their newest belter ‘Get the Poison out’ which was a standout live track for me it was then onto fellow tracks from the EP; ‘Im a Drunk’ and ‘My Body Pines’ with final track ‘All my friends are Coke heads’ to close a highly impressive and memorable set.
